Hopefully we will be in a place by the end of January, and ready for visitors! I miss all of my friends and family, and can not wait to have people come to visit. It will be so nice to see some familiar faces. So get your passports ready, and come see me!

3 Weeks
Hello Everyone! It has been 3 weeks since the big move to Costa Rica, and it's time to check in with you. Things have been great so far, everything definitely moves at a slower pace down here. I'm not sure if it is the heat, or me just being lazy, but I sleep a lot. I'm talking nine or ten hours a day, plus the occasional nap. I think that finding a place to live and getting into a routine will help. I am definitely looking forward to having our own place, however I will miss my grandma's cooking. She makes the best breakfast every morning, and we have been very spoiled by it. We have been travelling a lot to different beaches, to try to find our perfect little paradise. Travelling has been fun, but it takes a lot out of you. It really makes things much more difficult when using public transportation. A trip that should take 4 hours ends up taking 8, and by the end you are just exhausted. In the end though, we have seen some truly beautiful places. It is currently the dry season here, so the vegetation is not as lush as it will be during the rainy season, but it is still incredible. The views going through the mountains are simply breathtaking, and the ocean.... Don't even get me started on how much I love the ocean. We have narrowed the search down to three towns, Tamarindo, Manuel Antonio, and Dominical. We are going to try to go to Dominical next week to check it out, and then we should be ready to make a decision.

The Big Move
For those of you who did not know, I have dreamed of living in Costa Rica since I was a little girl. I always felt like I had missed out, since all of my cousins got to live here. There was a time when I was in second or third grade that my dad was going to be transferred here for work, but the project ended up getting cut. That really made me feel like I had been cheated out of an amazing experience. Well it took one week shy of 29 years, but I am here!
My husband and I have talked about moving here for years, but for one reason or another, it was never the right time. Eventually we realized that there was never going to be a perfect time, and that now was just as good a time as any. Purchasing our tickets made it real, and definitely brought on a whole new set of nerves. We had a lot to prepare for, and I'm sure there are plenty of things that fell through the cracks, but we are here.
Now the real "work" begins. We will be travelling along the coast to check out all of the different beach towns so that we can decide which is the best fit for the lifestyle we would like to live. We are looking for a place near the beach, because if you up and move to Costa Rica, why would you not live near the beach? I would love to get a job as a zipline tour guide, so a place with a decent tourism industry would be great. Joe would really like to be able to play music, so a place with a good music scene would be a huge plus. Hopefully we can find something safe and affordable, with a small town feel, that still has the Costa Rican charm.
I'll keep you posted on what we find!
