The Big Move

For those of you who did not know, I have dreamed of living in Costa Rica since I was a little girl.  I always felt like I had missed out, since all of my cousins got to live here.  There was a time when I was in second or third grade that my dad was going to be transferred here for work, but the project ended up getting cut.  That really made me feel like I had been cheated out of an amazing experience.  Well it took one week shy of 29 years, but I am here!

My husband and I have talked about moving here for years, but for one reason or another, it was never the right time.  Eventually we realized that there was never going to be a perfect time, and that now was just as good a time as any.  Purchasing our tickets made it real, and definitely brought on a whole new set of nerves. We had a lot to prepare for, and I'm sure there are plenty of things that fell through the cracks, but we are here.

Now the real "work" begins.  We will be travelling along the coast to check out all of the different beach towns so that we can decide which is the best fit for the lifestyle we would like to live.  We are looking for a place near the beach, because if you up and move to Costa Rica, why would you not live near the beach?  I would love to get a job as a zipline tour guide, so a place with a decent tourism industry would be great.  Joe would really like to be able to play music, so a place with a good music scene would be a huge plus.  Hopefully we can find something safe and affordable, with a small town feel, that still has the Costa Rican charm.

I'll keep you posted on what we find!
